Sant Rawool Maharaj Mahavidyalaya, Kudal one of the Youngest Higher Education Institutions, it was established in1984 thanks to the KMSP Mandalas Kurla Mumbai & Kudal. The college has registered sustained progress from 85 students over the period and emerged as one of the reputed multi-faculty colleges in the Rural area of Kudal City Dist Sindhudurga. The college attracts students from 45 villages in Sindhudurg District. It has the distinction of having produced several very eminent personalities.

The college is conveniently located near Kudal railway station. Today it has the strength of about 1450 UG & PG students. At present, the college offers about 08 programmes including UG& PG. The institution is a grant-in-aid college, and it got U.G.C recognition under 2f and 12B.

The College has a well-qualified teaching staff. The College has a Central Library in addition to the Departmental libraries, in this speedy age of the 21st century; one would like to have information at his/ her fingertips. The academics library of this college is equipped with a huge collection of books, periodicals, and magazines of various subjects cater to the needs of students and staff.

Orientation is given to the students at entry point about the usage of the library and the services provided to them. This helps the students to know about library collection, how they can make use of & know rules and procedures of the library.

Till 15th October 2015There was an addition of 3637 books from U.G.C. 11th plan for undergraduates. The library subscribes to journals on different subjects from the academic year 2012 -2013-to 2015 –Oct 2015 the total number of journals subscribed are 64,65, 65,& 65, respectively and several Magazines of general interest to cope up with the information demand.

These Magazines and Journals are of great help to the students who have to work on the project as a part of their syllabi on different topics, in addition, we also subscribe to 12 newspapers in three languages of a national and local level.

Users:

It being an academic library, the users are mainly students, teaching, and non-teaching staff members. About 35 to 40 percent of students from Degree & PG College borrow books regularly and about 75% of students make use of the reference section regularly.

News Papers in 3 languages, Magazines and Journals are referred by students and staff frequently. University question papers of past three to three years are used regularly by maximum students.

Library Services

Book- Bank Facility:

The library provides B C book bank facility to degree college students. Every year, the library purchases 125 to 145 books in this scheme every year.  These are mainly text-books and they are issued to students for the entire academic year. A maximum of three books are provided to each B.C student under this scheme free of charge.

Reading Room:

The reading room is attached to the main library & can accommodate about 110 students at a time, the total area of the reading room is about 1200 sq. ft including a lounge of about 100 sq. ft. for referring magazines, and teachers section of about 100 sq. ft. Students have free access to the magazines and the newspapers which enables them to collect first-hand information on current subjects. Internet facility is provided on one computer which helps the students to get required information on their area of interest .about 200 students visit the library daily for referring Newspapers, Magazines, and books. The library is kept open for 13 hours from 8 am to 9 pm on every working day.

Notice Board:

To keep students informed about library services, library rules, issuing systems, book bank facility, good articles, intercollegiate events, currier opportunities etc. Notices are displayed on the notice board.

The students are also kept informed about the new additions to the library by putting up the list of new books added to library collection subject wise.

Lending Section:

Every member of the library is provided with the facility is to fulfill the knowledge thrust of students and to provide them more opportunity to read about the subject. Members of the library take benefit of this service and issue the books regularly for home reading.

Library Committee:

The library committee, with Mr. Awate S T as chairperson held 2 meetings. The discussion was about existing rules and regulations, the area of library and its beautification. The need for human resource in the library and the space constraint in the library was discussed. It was discussed and decided to recommend for a total restructuring of the library.

The committee also put forward many healthy recommendations like keeping separate files for question paper sets, Journal, periodicals etc. these recommendations have gone along way in improving the functioning of the library .

I will be failing in my duty if I will not place on record gratitude to our I/C principal Dr. S. D. Disle who always been with us in all endeavors. It is with his support I could function even with limited facilities. I take this opportunity to thank our Vice-Principals, Heads of Departments who always help in improving the collection of reference sources. My sincere thanks are due to all my teaching colleague & non-teaching staff for their active support and co-operation. I thank all the dear students who show a keen interest in utilizing the library services through its resources and for careful handling of resources. I finally thank Library staff for their co-operation and constant support.
